They are the ones we have to thank for a fantastic month of June and a final that
will go down in history! Against all odds, on June 10, 2007 in Marmande, our “Bugois”
rugby players managed to cut through the reportedly ironclad defence of the “Landais”
from Villeneuve-de-Marsan, opening up magnificent opportunities and pulling off
two tries at the beginning of the match! They weren’t going to let this victory
slip through their fingers and they brilliantly manoeuvred throughout play, battling
on right up to the last minute which was as heroic as it was breathtaking.
www.albuga.info were fortunate enough to film the
whole of this extraordinary match, with a running commentary by the one and only
rugby and sports editor, Pierre Lucien Bertrand, and follow the players on into
the changing rooms to share with them moments of sheer delight. Enjoy it all in
this must-see movie which reveals another chapter in the history of this village
club and, more widely speaking, in the history of Le Bugue and the Périgord. Mingle
with the unbelievably happy crowds and the “Knights of Albuga” during the after-match
celebrations on June 10, then on July 7 at the traditional rugby ball which looked
more like a félibrée this year with the beautifully decorated Place de l’Hôtel de
Ville, a work of art accomplished by the wives of the administrators and players.
