Superheroes on supersize screen

On 2 August, Le Bugue rolled an immense 5m x 6m screen down from the balcony of the town hall to prove how immensely proud the whole village is of its champions, the ASBB players, winners of the French Fédérale 3 Rugby Championship.
Sophie Cattoire’s film recounting their heroic match and also the third half: the fans rushing onto the field to hug and kiss the champions, the celebrations in the changing rooms, the baptism of the shield with champagne, the journey back to Le Bugue and the party on the covered marketplace, gave everyone the chance to relive those unforgettable moments with the same enjoyment. A DVD of the film will be released on 28 September on the occasion of a projection at the Cinéma Lux in Le Buisson. There will be a special treat: the champions’ bodega in Le Bugue on July 7, the Shield being presented on the balcony of the town hall – with everyone on cloud nine – and more surprises which we’re keeping secret…

Le Bugue honours its champions

To mark the historic event – ASBB’s victory in the French Fédérale 3 Rugby Championship Final – all the players were invited to the Porte de la Vézère on 10 July, 2007 by Gérard Fayolle who presented each one of them with a reproduction of the mythical shield with their name engraved on it. A few days earlier, on 7 July, the whole village had acclaimed them by arranging a spur-of-the-moment bodéga on the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville which had been beautifully decorated by the players’ wives and the organizers.
